The foraging year
These bars come straight from the app's data. Pick a region and watch the timing move — the Southern Great Plain runs about a week ahead of the country, Northern Hungary up to two weeks behind.

What this app won't do
Szüret doesn't identify plants from a photo. It teaches you the marks, shows exactly what each plant can be confused with, and leaves the final call to you.
Confirm with all three. When in doubt — leave it out.
Flagged with a dangerous lookalike
Content status. Every species entry was drafted from established foraging references but hasn't yet been checked by a licensed botanist. The app says so on its About screen, and so do we.
In the app
I
Pick your region once. The first screen then answers the only question that matters on a walk: what's in season, how many weeks are left, and what's starting next. A short seasonal almanac — “This week in the wild” — ships inside the app and works offline.

English, Hungarian and Latin names, a credited photo, identification marks, where to look, how to harvest without harming the plant, traditional uses — from bodzaszörp to gesztenyepüré — and its legal status in Hungary.

Standing at the bush with one free hand? Field mode walks through the identification marks one at a time, full screen, in large type. Tap the right half of the screen to move on. A matching setting makes the whole app bigger and higher-contrast for bright sun and gloves.

Tap the map to mark where you found something, with a note and an optional photo. National parks and protected areas show up as dashed awareness zones. Spots aren't uploaded anywhere — there's no server to upload them to.

Download a region at home, on Wi-Fi — roughly 30 to 65 MB — and the map works with zero bars in the forest. Tiles come from OpenStreetMap, with no account or API key.

Every species' peak week on a single circle, coloured by season, with today marked in red. Star a species and turn on season notifications to get a local reminder when its season starts — nothing is sent to a server.

A plain-language summary of where you may pick in Hungary — state forest, private land, national parks — and the forager's five rules, starting with: leave two-thirds behind.
